I read Goolrick's earlier book on my own and then with a book club, and it struck me right away that there were distinct similarities between the two books. The most obvious to me was that both books are about a marriage as a financial arrangement which becomes more complex as the woman's motivations are revealed. Intense passion, infidelity, and the psychological depth of the characters exist in both novels.
Both are page-turners, and I'm wondering what Goolrick has up his sleeve next!
