How would you characterize Frankie's romantic relationships? Does her relationship with Bud fit into the mold of her past encounters? What attracts her to him? Why do you think some people fall into relationship patterns?

NEEDY. She felt Liz was more attractive and had fulfilled her goal of marriage and children.
Her parents didn't appreciate her life's work. Phillip was available, shared her ambition to improve the human conditions in Africa. Sex made her feel more adequate, necessary.
Bud, is also available, likes her as a whole person.

Frankie seemed to be shallow in her many sexual relationships, which were impulsive and fleeting. She didn't seem to want or persue permanent relationships, but just took whatever came her way. Bud was an exception. It seemed they had more than that, but Frankie continued to search for something more.
