Aloha,
I could not believe that. Especially, the mob part. Yes, there are many conspiracies with this. I read some of them. I felt there should have been additional evidence. Yes, the picture is one. I do not think you can build a case on that. I understand the time period. The witness himself would not be good for court. Sadly, repuations matter. Any good attonery would know how to squash that witness. I read the first chapter and parts of the second chapter. I could not connect with this book. I tried a few times. It still did not grab me. I hate giving up on books.
I have never read the previous books in this series. I was wondering if the past books would give more clue to this book. I normally love books that have history. It was a suprise for me that I did not fall for this book.
Blessings??

I am late getting into the discussions because it took me longer to read the book than I thought it would. In response to Alwaysdaddysgirl, reading the first would definitely have helped in understanding this book. These three groups all had the same goal, to keep the blacks in check. I do not know if there were connected in any way, maybe the next book will tell for sure.

We have to remember that this is a work of fiction that deals with some very real events. That said, the Mafia's use of the Double Eagles to carry out assassinations and other crimes is a somewhat plausible conspiracy theory, though the next book may enlighten us more and give us a certain answer.

I think that it is important for readers to separate fact from fiction. One must realize that authors often take liberties in writing novels of historical fiction and may link various groups together to present a particular effect.

I understand what all of you are saying. With all due respect, my Bachelors is in History. I also have a history internship with one of the history news website. I have tutored kids and adults with history.
There are recent articles about how the young generation is not good with grasping things. A far fetch consiparcy, with minds easy to control, he could have try another. There are also articles where today youth have unclear view with a lot of things. Yes, I know it a fiction novel. Yes, I know everyone has there own cup of tea.
