The interrelationship of life

Did you realize that humans and trees (as well as most living things on our planet) had such overlap in our genetic material? Did that change the way that you view trees?

RE: The interrelationship of life

I did not really understand the genetic component before, beyond the fact that everything originated from the same bacteria/cells etc This book really opened my eyes, it was a very educational read. I have also been watching many documentaries and even seeing the comments on this thread. Anything narrated by David Attenborough grabs me!

I was aware of the close DNA connection. The connection with chimpanzees is stunning. Unfortunately people hate other people so the connection by DNA to trees or other living things does not help much. I think trees’ differences from us is what makes them so amazing. This book reminds me of the Ents from Lord of the Rings. Trees are amazing!

I better understand it now than before I read the book.

RE: The interrelationship of life

I hadn't read anything about the DNA connection between trees and humans before I read this book, so that was very enlightening. My husband and I visited Redwood National Park last month and I can tell you that those living breathing beings are gentle giants that we must love and cherish. I look at every tree I see differently now and even more so after reading Mr. Powers' book.
