Music is, as they say, universal language. It was Wes's outlet of his feelings, it was the way he spoke the words he couldn't say. Claire knew that. It was his way to friendship; his friends were his band mates. When he started to teach Scott, that connection with people came alive again.

Wesley was unable to express his feelings in words, but he expressed them with his music. Music was how he connected to all the important people in his life; in playing the fiddle while Dennis danced around and then when he taught Dennis to play the fiddle; and again when he taught Scott how to play the fiddle. The fiddle itself was significant in that it was made by his father who left it for him.

Music was the way Wesley was able to connect emotionally with everyone. He was not a verbal person, but he could express his feelings through music. After working at such a high stress job, he came home and relaxed by playing his fiddle. His music left behind the stress of his days and told of joy and happiness, as well as sadness. He was taught how to play the fiddle by his father. In turn, he taught Dennis and Scott.

Music was the way that Wes connected to the world around him. It was his language.
