Leo states that "it's only when something's damaged beyond repair that we realize how beautiful it was." Do you agree?

I agree that something need not be damaged to fully appreciate its beauty. I like to think that maybe Leo is saying that our scars - our life experiences - leave indelible marks that make us unique and maybe stronger and maybe more beautiful. It's sort of like Kintsukuroi, the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold, silver, or platinum. Acknowledging the break and making it precious. And so maybe he is saying we need to celebrate all the bumps and bruises that contribute to who we are. To appreciate the journey that got us here and not to mourn the things we thought we lost.

Many a song has been written about not knowing what you have until it's gone, but (as others have said in this thread) it doesn't have to be that way. Taking time to smell the roses (so to speak) is a way to appreciate that beauty instead of hyperfocusing of all of the flaws.
