I was initially hesitant to read the book because I am not a gamer and know nothing about creating games. However, I found the narrative compelling, keeping engaging, and deeply moving. I felt the characters were revealed in all their flaws and at times I didn't like the characters but they were so very human and relatable. The book really defies genres. In many ways it is a romance, a coming-of-age story, a thrilling and suspenseful novel of entrepreneurship.

I truly enjoyed this unique novel. The characters were so well developed. I enjoyed the gaming thread that tied everything together. The author gave enough description of the games to make them understandable, but I never felt that the games overtook the novel. I enjoy books that are different and this novel kept my interest while reading and left me thinking about it long after I finished it.

I was on the fence about reading this book as I am not a gamer & really don't have an interest in the gaming world. But I loved The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry & Gabrielle's writing, so I gave it a chance. I actually enjoyed the book & found it was more about friendship & life lessons & I loved the characters

I adored this novel and have recommended it to everyone; none of them, except my teenaged daughter, are gamers. I thought the writing was equally as compelling as the story. I'm an editor and even had to look up two words! I don't think it is important to understand gaming or even the industry, as there is enough information given throughout the book to keep you informed.

This was a reread for me. The first time I read it it was just so so not my favorite. It had unbelievably wonderful reviews so I did want to read it again. This time I enjoyed it more. I knew more about the making of games. This was a novel of the love and sometimes hate relationships of the characters. I enjoyed Marx. He was truly a friend.

This book reminded me of Rainbow Rowell’s book Eleanor and Parks. This book is similar, a bit darker at times, but uses Literature and gaming rather than music to thread together common themes of growing up, love and friendship, surviving trauma, and creativity.
I really enjoyed it and the more I think about it the more I realized how many topics and themes the author used to tell a story about coming of age and friendship. The writing was very good, the characters complex yet seemed realistic and the many topics relatable. I really enjoyed this book! This is a book I will recommend!

I found this book completely absorbing, although I am not a gamer. The author created characters and situations that held my interest throughout--and even got me interested in trying some games! I read it twice, straight through and loved it both times. I highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed “The Storied Life of AJ Fikry” and so I was looking forward to this latest novel. I must say I started this book with some trepidation because I knew it was heavy on the video game theme.
As it turned out, I didn’t like this book like I hoped I would. It wasn’t the video game portion that got to me, instead I thought the overall storyline was rather dull and I grew tired of Sam and Sadie’s ongoing relationship.

Like so many readers here, I’m not a gamer and I didn’t really understand a lot of the references and techniques of creating a game. But the important part of the book, to me, is the relationships between characters. The characters were well developed and I missed them when I finished!

I enjoyed the book even though I'm not a gamer. I was a little worried that there would be jargon that I didn't understand, but that wasn't the case. I enjoyed the story and actually learned some things about gaming. I really liked the ending because you could predict the future that you wanted.

This was the best written book I’ve read in a long while. The character development and backstories were given us a piece at a time as you get to know a person in real life. The narrative also had a nuance from the game mirroring and complex Shakespearean and mythological references.
This is not a coming of age novel. It’s a novel of friendship and love and the various ways they can develop and play out in one’s life. I’d recommend this novel to anyone who likes good writing and well developed characters.

I found the book to be a wonder. Ms. Zevin is truly an author to watch. The novel was compelling, even to a 71 year old who has never played, but I noticed the novel itself was reflective of the games she described. It was unlike any book I’ve read lately. Her pacing, her vivid characters, her use of language made the book a joy. In addition to these qualities, Ms. Zevin shows a deep understanding of the human heart, its strength and its foibles. Loved loved loved it.

I enjoyed this book a lot and have recommended it to several people. I probably would not have picked this book in a bookstore as the title and cover design suggested (to me) something bordering on science fiction, so I am extremely pleased to have - once again- had the pleasure of reading an exceptional book because of Book Browse. Even though I am not a gamer, the author created characters that drew me into the story, and I felt the characters' excitement as they tossed around various ideas. There were so many passages that I thought were brilliant, clever, and very touching. Gabrielle Zevin will now be an auto-buy author for me.

I, like so many others who have answered this question, am not a gamer. I am a senior citizen with no interest in gaming! I found this story line to be dull and too predictable. I do not think that the writing was in any way good. I would not recommend this book.

Very revealing exploration of the obsessive personalities who develop intelligent and successful computer games. Requires great intelligence, inventive thinking and attention to detail. So glad to have a female at the forefront in the book as this creative field is assumed to be dominated by young men! Also was impressed with how the main characters matured over the course of the book. Wonder what author’s personal experience is re gameplay and creation.

This book made it onto my list of favorite books for a number of reasons. It was compelling in its discussion of disability, gender, racism. You don’t need to be a gamer to appreciate the plot and characters in Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow. The characters are interesting and realistic; the characters obsessively play video games, in part I believe, enjoying video game death as “…short, sweet, with the possibility of imminent resurrection.” Or as the author defines insanity, “…doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result.”

I am not a gamer & really don't have an interest in the gaming world but the reason I chose this book was because I enjoyed The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry with all the literary references so much. I was looking for a similar story.
But I actually enjoyed the book & found it was more about relationships and moving through the ups and downs of life.

I liked that the characters were relatable whether the reader was a gamer or not; it provided an interesting look into the gaming world. Maybe one of the most important aspects of the characters to me was the elements of diversity they introduced: race, gender, disability.

I loved this book, even though initially I was hesitant as the description did not sound like something I would enjoy. But I was hooked from the first chapter and felt the writing was excellent and the characters so real. I could understand Sadie, Sam, and Marx as if they were real life friends. I also appreciated that there were a number of themes running through the background, without it overtaking the story

Unfortunately, my lack of gaming knowledge may have led me to lose my interest in the book, especially halfway through when the book seemed to drag. The story becomes repetitive after Sam and Sadie become business partners. I liked the book but did not love it, maybe it is the high expectations I had for this book or maybe it was the fact I felt both Sam and Sadie were too self-obsessed with themselves.
