Sadie believes Sam takes undue credit for their shared creations. Do you think she’s justified? Do you think this would have been different if their games had premiered in today’s world?

Sadie believes Sam takes undue credit for their shared creations. Do you think she’s justified? How much influence do the public and the media have in awarding credit for the games? What role do you think she herself plays in this dynamic? Do you think this would have been different if their games had premiered in today’s world?

RE: Sadie believes Sam takes undue ...

I think Sadie was a victim of the era. At the time, everyone would have assumed the male was the brains behind the outfit, and that the female was around primarily to keep the caffeine flowing and to type up letters. Sam could have done a lot more to dispel the notion, but I do wonder if in some regards he bought into it as well. I'm not sure he ever truly believed Sadie was an equal partner, particularly after Max died. And it certainly didn't hurt that he handled interviews so much better than she did.

Today, I think it would have been more challenging to have buried Sadie's contribution to the team. Given the fact that Sam was so much more personable, though, she likely would have taken a back seat regardless.

I think Sadie is justified, yet there were times that Sam's ability to speak with others helped to provide a professional "front man" ("man" as a mankind representative.) However, people are more assertive now and a younger generation is not expecting a male to be the lead.

I don’t think Sam intentionally took the credit, but he could have done more to credit Sadie. However, Sadie did not want to do the interviews and Sam was good at them, so the arrangement seemed to make sense.

RE: Sadie believes Sam takes undue ...

I feel the way Sadie and Sam were each recognized for their contributions for their creations were based on their projected personalities, not specifically their gender. Sam was gregarious and warm in front of the media. I believe he was even surprised he enjoyed the interaction. Sadie not so and never felt comfortable promoting the programs. It was not the part of her business that she enjoyed. She gravitated to being the creative idea generator and the coder. So, I feel she was unjustified in her anger and created her own problems.

Sadie is justified that Sam got credit for her work, but it wouldn’t be much different even today. Women have made great strides but certain areas are still assumed to be better performed by men, especially when sales are male dominated. Today she might get more credit, but Sam would probably still be the star. Perhaps sales would be fewer if she had completely appropriate credit, but perhaps not as more and more women are buyers.

When Sadie just looks at what Sam is doing and the credit he is receiving, yes. However, Sadie needed to also look at what she was doing and the times that she did not feel comfortable or want to be in the spotlight to receive credit.
