Felicity and Joseph make a point of reiterating how “generous” Joseph has been to Betty, Miranda, and Annie. What does it mean to be generous in a divorce? Is this possible?

Generosity is an equal sharing of things and emotions and many times cannot be found in divorce. Joseph's "generosity" only came around because he was forced into it---I found no excuse in his use of the term as he let Felicity simply strip his family until she was stopped.

I agree with the others' comments. Generosity in a divorce, to me, is the same as generosity in anything - caring about the well-being of others enough to share what one can to help them out. Joseph, influenced by Felicity, didn't show any generosity whatsover towards his wife of so many years. He put her in the position she was in in their marriage and divorce both, and knew full well that she didn't have the means to support herself.

I agree with the comments. From the beginning what got my attention was the repetition of how Joseph was a "generous" man...At first it made me laugh, then I got angry...Why "generous"? I think it was because he deep down he felt guilty and the so-called generosity made him feel better about what he was about to do.
