If I may ask, can you elaborate on your comment you stated regarding" law enforcement in close-knit communities". Is this due to your experience as a public defender and prosecutor (Kudos by the way!)

Just curious, why did you change to a prosecutor?

I found this book difficult to put down until I reached the last page. For a first novel it is outstanding. The author writes in beautiful, descriptive language and, at the same time, keeps socking the reader between the eyes with the revelations that unfold in this terrible story of a brutal family murder in an outback country town - a town that seeps with anger, bitterness, violence, oppressive heat and blow-flies.

I totally enjoyed the book: read it all in one day and had trouble believing it's a debut novel. Jane Harper can write! I've gone into more detail on another thread, but I urge everyone to read this book. Don't be put off by the prologue.

I really liked the book. Kept me guessing and kept me pulling me in deeper and deeper. Could not put the book down.

I loved it. I could not put it down; it took me 2 days to read it. That is how good it is! it was an exciting book to read!

I thought it was very well done. It was a little slow to begin but I was drawn in and wanted to know what happened. It had a good plot, interesting characters, a twist in the end. The next installment is due to come out and I'm planning on reading it and keeping up with her series.

I really liked the book! I have been reading more and more mysteries and have been having fun trying to figure out the "who done it" before the truth is revealed. I liked all the characters. And I liked the way the author used flashbacks to tell the story. I will recommend it to all my fellow readers.

I liked this book and read through it fairly quickly.

I thought it was a good read. It keep me interested and involved in what was happening. The main characters were well developed and people that you could learn to love and sometimes not, at the same time. And it did get to the point that I decided to stay up and finish it even though I had to work the next day. I am definitely going to recommend the book to others in my book group.
