I'm in my sophomore year in high school, i read this book just a few months ago because of my girlfriend. I thought it was not going to be good. As i started to read i felt myself hooked. I found Harley very interesting and very twisted in some ways. This is a book that captures you're attention at once. I really recommend this book, it is great and very captive. It will have you at the edge of your seat. i just wish there was more to this story it really intrigue me and had me suprised. Thank you Yessenia for letting me know about this book! Edwin 16

I did not like this book because it was so depressing and tawdry.

I rarely read novels as I can never seem to find the patience to go through one. However, "Back Roads" is definitely an exception - it captivated me 100%. There isn't one dull moment in this story. The characters are so genuine, true to life. Just when you thought you had the facts straightened out, the story takes a shocking twist, leaving the readers eagerly antipating for the next revelation. "Back Roads" is a rare jewel and a MUST READ for ALL!!

I WANT MORE!!!!! (08/04/03)

Oh my god I LOVE THIS BOOK, i actually skipped classes to go into the library to finish this book off. GOD ive just finished it and i totally want more. When reading about what Harley is going through, its like u wanna run away with him, be crazy with him, experience the thingz that he is experiencing. I felt so much emotion for these characters. Ihavent been reading long bcos i thought books were boring (as u do wen ur young) but this book will always be my favourite by far, no book will ever take its place. OH GOD PLZ WRITE MORE!!!!! ( dont give this 5 i give it 100000000000!!!!)

A story told with a real voice. You get a genuine sense of the characters' pain and you're compelled to care for the characters as if they were your own brothers, sisters and friends. This book will melt you to tears of laughter and tears of sadness - a great tragedy. Once you pick it up you'll be riddled with guilt if you put it down. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME - Every page is an event, can't wait for O'Dell to do it again.
