My heart just went out to Catherine. It was a well written book. I can't believe the heartlessness of what happened to her. Children need their mothers. I have two boys myself and I could never give up on them either. Some people do not understand that children are easily persuaded. Down underneath it , these children love her. Sooner or later, Catherine will get what she wants , they will grow up, and question this whole thing. I pray for that to happen. I'm starting to think, that it might be better to try to hold more marriages together for the sake of the children. Things like this happen when parents split up. She may have had good reason to split up with this man, though. I've been divorced too, but sometimes I wonder if I should'nt have stayed because everyone suffers in a divorce.

I don't know what to say I am so dumbfounded by what I have just read. I too got a hold of this book through passing books around from friends and I can't believe it IS a true story. I felt like I was reading a fiction novel. I feel so naive and small after reading that something so horrible is still taking place. My prayers are with Catherine and I do hope that her sons will have some of her still left in them to see what happened to them. I feel so bad for them not having a chance in life to be open minded. I never thought that German people were like that. I had so much more respect for them even though we had been through wars with them. I never thought that the actual everyday people of Germany were the ones that believed that they were the perfect race. I thought it was just a government "suggestion" (ha) on how they were "suppose" to be living their lives. Like Russia being communist. Some people do not believe in it. I don't know, this is such a complicated world and I am happy to be an American. We have our problems too over here, but people should be free to think and say their opinions. That is why we came to America in the first place, to be free to worship, work, play and speak what we feel. Not hurt people, but to be ourselves. God Bless you, Catherine and all the work you have done for others. You did take something so negative and horrible and turn it into something great not only for yourself but for others. That is what freedom is really about no matter what country we are from!!!TextText

I am 47, American, and the mother of three. I found this book in a used bookstore, and assumed it to be a fairly outdated one, with a story that would be touching, and hopefully resolved. I found instead, that it is a fairly recent story, and is NOT resolved. I am moved by the book, and in fact very heart-broken over it. I am also amazed, as I look on the internet for recent articles about Catherine Meyer, that she still has not re-connected with her children. I pray for her, admire her courage and persistence, and hope that as her sons grow up she will finally have a chance to truly be with them- completely reunited. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who cares about families and children.

dear catherine,very emotional book!really does highlight the complete frustraion of a mothers battle with authorities not in touch with reallity.will send my daughter in usa a copy to let her know she is not the only one in this battle.3 years trying to get usa court to honour hague convention .as ordered by high court in u.k.hope your readers will inform sufferers of help available. i.e. REUNITE UK./ P.A.C.T. Dear Catherine, I Have just finished reading your book! I have a copy titled TWO CHILDREN BEHIND A WALL Published 1997 Whilst reading your book i shead a tear or two, i really feel for you and i hope that one day your boys will come back, when they do they will work it all out for them selfs.
