Beautiful prose, gripping paragraphs...absolutely intoxicating from beginning to end. Beckett is so many teenage girls, her perceptions and confusion ring so true as the words pull you from page to page. Anyone who feels or ever felt on the outside of the highschool universe should read this book.

i have never read a book so quickly--i felt like Beckett as i read it. At fifteen years old, i was extremely able to relate to Beckett's confused mind, as I am a very observant individual like herself. I certainly hope that Jane Mendelsohn realizes what a masterpiece she has created, and that she lured readers into a special bond with the heroine. =)

Shelley:
I happened upon this book quite by accident, bought it impulsively and completed it that same night. Never have I devoured a novel so quickly and thoroughly! Innocence is truly a marvel, twisting the themes of romance and science fiction mystery in a fresh, updated way. The struggles of adolescence and self are paired with gruesome murder and dark fantasy. Many accolades to Jane Mendelsohn on creating a delicately complex work of written genius.

As I read Mendelsohn's novel, it was somewhat scary, but at the same time intriguing. The metaphors included within the novel make one think about the world we see around us. A picture of the adolescent mind is exquisitely painted by the plot and structure of the book. This is a must read. Bravo.
