A pending agreement between Google and publishers and authors of copyrighted books is expected to result in millions of new titles becoming accessible online. Under the proposed plan, which awaits legal go-ahead, Google will retain 37% of sales from database subscriptions for scanned books, consumer sales of copyrighted books and ads for them on preview pages, and authors and publishers will get 63%.
