Book Summary

When Cassie's secret is threatened she goes back in a sprint to her old work - robbing casino gamblers, and she was the very best.

Cassie Black has never looked back. She walked away from her life as a criminal after one disastrous night that left the man closest to her dead and her life in a shambles. Now she's thriving at a job selling Porsches to Hollywood hotshots. Through everything--even her darkest moments--she has been able to keep going by holding on to one perfect thing, her greatest secret, dearer to her than life itself.

Now it's the only way she can make enough money fast to maybe make everything right. Quickly she lines up a mark, a man who has been winning steadily for a week at high-stakes baccarat. The job goes smoothly until she opens his briefcase...

And discovers a world of trouble she never dreamed of. Her superstitious friend who lined up the job says it's the bad-luck void moon having its malignant way. Cassie knows it's worse. Void Moon

The house on Lookout Mountain Road was set far in from the street and nestled against the steep canyon embankment to the rear. This afforded it a long and flat green lawn running from the wide front porch to the white picket fence that ran along the street line. It was unusual in Laurel Canyon to have such an immense lawn, front or back, and one so flat as well. It was that lawn that would be the key selling point of the property.

The open house had been advertised in the real estate section of the Times as starting at two p.m. and lasting until five. Cassie Black pulled to the curb ten minutes before the starting time and saw no cars in the driveway and no indication of any activity in the house. The white Volvo station wagon she knew belonged to the owners that was usually parked outside was gone. She couldn't tell about the other car, the black BMW, because the little single-car garage at the side of the house was closed. But she took the missing Volvo to ...

Media Reviews

Book Magazine
Void Moon races with a wind-swept breathlessness that no other Connelly book duplicates or even approaches-a Porsche roadster at its limits winding its way down Mulholland.

Wall Street Journal - Tom Nolan
In Void Moon, the job's high-tech gadgets and split second timing ratchet up the tension. Michael Connelly's Void Moon is outstanding.

Washington Post Book World
...a slick, highly professional thriller that does not disappoint.

Library Journal
Even though Harry Bosch is nowhere to be found, Connelly has written his best book to date.

Author Blurb Jeffery Deaver, author of The Devil's Teardrop and The Bone Collector
Void Moon is a high-stakes win! Author Connelly has dealt us lucky readers a rare hand - a lightning-paced thriller with a soul, a novel that takes us straight into the glitz and underbelly of Las Vegas and yet is populated with some of the most complex and captivating characters in suspense fiction.

Author Blurb Robert B Parker
In Void Moon, as in all of Michael Connelly's books, you care about the people, you care what happens to them, and you can't stop reading until you find out. Connelly is so good he's beginning to annoy me.
