I really liked how confident and centered she was. She is basically the only character who starts off knowing who she is, liking who she is, and living her life to the fullest. She definitely shows Antoine how it is possible to do those things, with kindness and compassion to go with her sexy self. I'd like a masculine version of that for myself (complete with the Harley, thank you!).

I think she was great and just what Antoine needed. She too had suffered a serious childhood trauma that ultimately made her strong and independant but did not make her an emotional cripple. She has turned herself into an individual most anyone can relate to.

Yes I did and my thoughts were similar in that I thought of Lisbeth Salander. Angele is strong, independent, and very well balanced - good at setting boundaries. I don't think marriage was in the future for them.....perhaps Antoine would have moved in that direction but Angele was content with her life and freedom as it is and not something I would predict she would do.

I agree with maribethk. I don't think marriage was in the future for these two, but at the end of the book at least, they were both getting what they wanted from their relationship, and my feeling from the tone was that the relationship was fulfilling to both as it stood. Judy

I loved this character. Her personality too, was before her time. She had the unusual ability to think and do as she pleased, thanks to the fact that she had no family to whom she had to answer for her actions. In that day and time she was unique. Although she had a very serious profession, she was soft and likeable, and was the vehicle for Antoine's continuance of his quest in a rational manner. Although the issues were quite serious to Antoine's searching, being able to share his feelings about it was almost like a comic relief a la Shakespeare. I thought that this character provided an extremely useful tool to the social climate of the novel. Quick Reply Please login to post a response.
