I think it is for the most part. I see it more and more everyday - just look at the news and world around us in this present moment. Access to good health care would have made a big difference to many of the people who contracted the virus. People with "white collar" jobs can work from home in relative safety. People on the front lines don't have that choice. People who lost their jobs also lost their healthcare. They are powerless in this situation. That's just one example.

There is no doubt money and power insulate those who have it from certain things that the rest of us cannot avoid.

I think that it is important to really define what kind of "immunity" you are speaking of.

Money and power does not shield you from a miserable marriage, it does not protect you from the loss of a loved one to severe addiction or disease or any other way humans find to destroy their lives. It often is a contributing factor.

Money and power do provide you with heavy responsibilities to others. It makes it almost impossible to determine who your friends really are and your so-called allies, as well.

Yes, you may have many material things, good health care and healthy foods....and the knowledge you can lose it all easily.

Money and power can only do so much to insulate someone. I wonder if Claire would still believe that the end of the book. Rory got what was coming to him -- YES! Rory was bordering on being too much of a black in book. A tad overdone, but somewhat necessary to move the story along.

All you need to do is read the headlines (and I am not being political) to see that money and power make people immune from prosecution. It doesn't make you immune from problems in life but it does keep you out of prison.

Yes, it is all too true that money and power are often used to achieve nefarious ends. With the erosion of this country’s morals and values, those in positions of power and with enough money, can buy anything, including immunity from consequences.

Absolutely!!, the rich and famous seem to get away with almost anything, including murder. That old saying, does life imitate art or art imitate life seems to hold true in this day and age, just watch the news.

I agree with Claire. Money and power can get you the best lawyers, the best health care, etc.
