The novel includes a fictional excerpt from Emily Brontë's second novel. If you could discover a missing manuscript, what would it be?

I would be thrilled and honored to find a lost manuscript signed by the founders stating unequivocally that women are equal under the law and have the same rights as men. Even though there are others I’d like to find, I think this would be the best use, do the most good and save the most lives of anything else I can think of at the moment.

I love rebeccar's answer. I actually did find a 20-page typed document my grandmother wrote up. She gave a copy to each of her children, but her grandchildren didn't know. When I discovered it I thought it was terribly interesting and told my a lot about my family. It was far from comprehensive, though, and made me sad that I found it too late to ask her questions.
I'd love to find a document by Richard III or Henry VII that definitively talks about the fate of the princes in the tower.
Funny, as I think about this question, my mind goes more to historical documentation. It would be cool (not to mention profitable) to find an unknown work by a classic author, but in the long run I think that would have limited value.

I would love to find an undiscovered work by William Shakespeare. It would be fascinating, and as an added bonus it would be great if it was attached to some irrefutable proof that he actually DID write all the works attributed to him-since so many scholars dispute this.

What a great question, and I agree with many of the responses above especially Gloria's response about finding an undiscovered work of Shakespeare. I'd also like to uncover work from Shakespeare's contemporary, poet and playwright Christopher Marlowe, as so much of his short life and work is lost to us.
I also agree that it would be great to find more manuscripts and evidence of work by women and people of color.
