What do you think the future holds for Sam and Sadie?

I like the ending of this novel as it lets you believe what you want to for the future of Sam and Sadie. For two people who are in a communications industry they are not very good at talking to each other. I hope they find happiness together.

It seems like they may partner again in a work sense, but I doubt if they will ever be a romantic couple.

Sam and Sadie’s relationship was the common bond and love of gaming. I think they will remain friends but I doubt their relationship will ever be the romantic kind.

I agree they will not have a romantic relationship. They will remain friends for the rest of their lives. They still may have some problems but will work them out knowing they are each others best friend. Best friends are hard to find.

Sam and Sadie will always be friends. They are not compatible people, but they do care for each other. If one was in need, the other would be there instantly.

I’d like to think that they will be there to support and help each other through hard times for the rest of their lives. The last chapter leads me to think there is a chance they will. Friendships like theirs is hard to find.

I think they will have a life-long friendship because it didn't turn romantic.

Towards the end of the book Sam ask Sadie why she thinks they never got together romantically, and she tells him that they were together
“Sammy. Lovers are common. Because I loved working with you better than I liked the idea of making love to you. Because true collaborators in this life are rare.”
This then opens Sam up to discuss his thoughts about his perceived inadequacies and the traumas he witnessed and this leads to discussing the differences of their world growing up and todays world and how that affected their creating strategies. I think this new openness will enhance their deep love for one another’s friendship and spur on their creativity and collaboration in the gaming world.

I agree that Sam and Sadie will remain friends and work partners but will not become involved romantically. I liked the way the book ended with Sadie renewing their friendship by offering Sam a look at her new work-in-progress. It's refreshing to have a book end with friendship and a work relationship rather than with romance.

There's a part of me that thinks Sam & Sadie should end up together, but that's really just the romantic in me (the movie "When Harry Met Sally" comes to mind). But I just don't think Sam will ever be the type of romantic partner Sadie wants or needs, so if they did have a liaison they'd just end up breaking each other's hearts.

They will always be connected somehow

I think that they helped each other at critical moments in each other’s lives. Sadie connected with Sam after the car accident, she was able to draw him out of his broken shell simply by being present - even if they didn’t talk much, they connected with the games they played together. Sam in return drew Sadie out of her depression after her breakup and loss of her child. They each showed up day after day after day. Being present, listening and accepting - there is no greater gift to help a person heal. The game that Sam created for Sadie after Marx died seemed to me to be a love letter, he was offering himself to her, hoping to repair the divide that had separated them. I agree with the others, I don’t think they will be involved romantically, but will remain in each others lives. They may have more rocky times ahead, but don’t all relationships have that? I feel like Sam will be able to share stories about Marx with Naomi, things that only he knows, so that Naomi knows the kind of man that her father was.

I think they will remain very good friends and work on other projects together.

I think they will be soulmates forever. I don't think they'll be a romantic couple.

I was relieved that they weren’t a couple at the end of the book. I don’t like it when everything ties up in a nice, neat, romantic bow at the end. I hope they continue to work together, to be best of friends, I hope Sam gets to know Sadie’s daughter, but I want them to forsake physical love.

I would have liked them to get together, but sometimes it is just best to be friends and I think they would have renained the best of friends and started making games together again.

Sam and Sadie will remain friends. Their shared love of gaming will keep them in touch.

Sam and Sadie will continue to create and work together. Their friendship will endure but I don’t believe a romantic relationship will happen between the two main characters.

I believe as they age and mature so will their relationship as friends and collaborators. They already have a long complicated intertwined history that will continue to grow.

They will partner again, their friendship will endure, however I don't think they will ever have a successful romantic relationship. Too much water over the bridge for that to happen.
