Action Packed Adventure
This is an absorbing adventure that made me anxious to read the next chapter. Even though the actions of the villains are horrific, they are believable. This is the first book I have read by the author but I will read more of his work now that I have been introduced to "Reacher".
I would warn the queasy and faint of heart to avoid reading this novel. The torture scenes are extremely graphic.

I AM HOOKED
I am hooked. Thank you Lee Child for introducing me to Jack Reacher. What an interesting and exciting character. I loved the book "Gone Tomorrow". I found the novel to be a page turner with many surprises and thrilling action. I was pulled into the story from the very first chapter. The story revolves around Jack Reacher riding in a subway car in Manhattan late at night along with a woman he singles out because she matched all the behavioral indicators of a suicide bomber. As the plot thickened with twists and turns and old secrets the Government and a prominent politician want suppressed and some Afghan Taliban/Al Qaeda terrorists wanted for their own purposes, I could not put the book down. I recommend this book and I look forward to reading some more of Jack Reacher adventures.

Gone Tomorrow by Lee Child
This book should come with the warning,"Don't start reading unless you have time to read it without stopping", because once you start you can't turn the pages fast enough. This is the first book by Lee Child that I have read, and it certainly won't be the last. It has very believable characters, and so many twist and turns that as soon as you think you have figured out what will happen next you are proven wrong. It will also frighten you when you read about how our privacy and citizen rights can be violated in the name of National Security. A great read!

More of the Same
Lee Childs has found a way to make his character, Preacher, and his stories remain exciting and tantalizing. However, they are starting to be more of the same. If you like thrillers filled with suspense, you'll find another hit with Gone Tomorrow. Preacher is starting to bore me.

Hair today.....
"Gone Tomorrow" ... a truly hair-raising adventure! One of those thrilling novels that keeps you up all night just to get to the end of the story so you can relax. Someone else said it: "It's like a 'Die Hard' movie in prose" and that's it exactly. More graphic than I usually like (hence the 4), but you can't help liking the hero and you cheer for him no matter how violent his justice is. Lee Child's details of the subway trains in New York made me feel like I was back there on the trains again. Adventure #13 for Reacher? I clearly have some catching up to do. Lending this one to my favorite man.

Gone Tomorrow
The next time you are looking at a long sit in an airport or an afternoon at the beach, Lee Child's "Gone Tomorrow" will provide you with lively entertainment. The book clearly qualifies as a "thriller," with a quirky lead character, a plausible but not too obvious plot line, and the requisite amount of terrorist gore. Although the book is the 13th in a line of Jack Reacher stories, it's not necessary to have read the previous 12 tomes to enjoy this one. I wish I knew a bit more about the rather peculiar Mr. Reacher, though the author kindly fills in a few gaps with a cheat sheet at the end of the volume. The story is so clearly action driven that the main thing demanded of our hero is the ability to relate the relevant events, which he does in a clear, wry style that is easy to follow and credible. This book is better for the beach than for your book club.

A Good Read
This is the first Jack Reicher novel I have read. And if this is your first you will be happy to know that it does not depend on previous stories to enjoy the novel.
In many suspense novels I am often able to guess the outcome. In this one I really couldn't tell who the bad guys were because everyone seemed to be hiding something. There is one very graphic scene but it was not an overreach for this storyline. It did make me wonder how much of the backstory was based on real events.
While I have not read the previous novels, I am looking forward to the next one since I would expect this character to find new challenges to face and not simply a replay of the last one in different clothes.
