I was given a list of books where I needed to pick one to read for my AP US hist. class and chose this one, particularly because it was the shortest one I could find (after having already read 3 books for my eng. class). Like most people my age (16) I think this is an extremely difficult book to get into. I will read one page, notice I'm thinking about something else, and have to go back and read it 2-3 more times in order to digest it. One of its few benefits is that by understanding the character of those that became presidents, I can better remember the order they go in for tests. The author did a good job researching- but it lacks creativity necessary to actually stay focused and enjoy this tidious piece of legacy.

I am a sixteen year old girl who has to read this book for a history class. Founding Brothers by Joseph Ellis has good historical information but it is also terribly tedious. Therefore, I do not believe that it is a good book. If it is too dull to read, then it greatly affects my appreciation towards the book because I can even get to it! I am sorry for not being able to appreciate the book but my attention spand just goes so far. This is just my point of view, hoever I believe that many others agree as well.

Excellent Read, once the extreme vocabulary is out of the way, it gives insight into things I've always thought to be correct. Such as the impecable records of all the Founding Fathers. It displays them as true people with building blocks of an entire nation. Almost like a reality show of the founding of our nation.

This book may seem boring, ofcoarse one would assume it is. Especially to a teenager who wants to be out and about with friends, not stuck home during the hot, inviting summer reading a "crumby book" like this. But, to tell you the truth (I'm 15 and going into AP American History) it is extremely well written. It took me literally an hour to read about 15 pages. When thoroughly dissected and vocabulary words translated, the text really came alive. I am completely embodied by the vocabulary selections Ellis has chosen, and this book is truly helping me to utilize my thinking and vocabulary skills to unravel this journey into time. He is brilliant and fully deserves the Pulitzer. I must admit my frustration at times, with big words and long, somewhat confusing sentences, but with alittle patience I was fully able to understand the text. It is a fantastic book for someone who is willing to learn and has time on their hands, but for a busy bodied teenager on the go, it is a nightmare. Oh well. "It is the people who take the time out to grow and prosper that will flourish in the future."

this book is so boring, it's like reading a history paper for 250 long pages.

Im 15 and a very good student. I was assigned this book over summer, and because im such a good student, i start reading it. It was rathr obvious that the school no longer wanted me to attend for i almost died of boredom.

I am also in AP US history (I'm 16) and I had to read this book. I thought -- well I can get into almost any book -- HOWEVER -- this book was incredibly boring and I could not get into it AT ALL! I've had many people taking this class that had also had a hard time trying to decipher this...coincidence? I think not. I am currently trying to write an essay on this -- and let me tell you...It's NOT easy! Avoid this book at all costs...
