I ENJOYED this book alot. It was different from anything I have ever read before. I enjoyed that each chapter had a different point of view. You really could connect each of the girls and the mother. Feel there pain, happiness and of course maddness. In other books you may not get that from that many characters.
I also enjoyed the history of the Congo as well. Sometimes I was a tad confused of all the different leaders and such but overall very well written and exciting to read.
Also happy to have had a finished endings many books don't end themselfs well.

A very good 400 pages. This was one of the few assigned novels that I have actually enjoyed, however, why did Kingsolver have to draw out the conclusion. It would have been much more effective if she hadn't.

This is book was simply...amazing. No doubt about it.
The characters are well drawn, the story is moving and utterly true. The philosophizing reaches to the heart of the Christian dilemma.
I feel as if I have taken a part of Africa home with me, and I have gained new respect for my family members and the separate journeys we have made, and the journeys have yet to make.

I am reading The Poisonwood Bible for the second time, and will again finish it in three days. I underlined so many breathtaking observations the first time through I had to give up and just admit the entire thing is worthy of my pen. This time I did research on the history of the Congo, which has added immeasurably to my appreciation of the story. If you are a serious reader and can appreciate irony and the hilarity of purposely mixed metaphors, don't pass this up. A gorgeous book, as well as a disturbing one.

I had to read this book for an AP Literature assignment. I found it to be very interesting - hard to put down. The plot grow thicker with every turn of the page and the many narrators keep the story from becoming one minded. I would definitely recomend it for any serious intellectual reader.

This book is not worth anyone's time. It is too drawn out the plot gets old real fast andi is way too long for nothing to happen. AVOID THIS BOOK AT ALL COSTS.

This book is inspirational, engrossing, informative, profound, poetic, compassionate, and in all...a blessing.

This book was highly recommended to me by my sixteen year old daughter after she read it for an AP Literature assignment. It is unbelievably mature and heartfelt. I couldn't put it down. I assume these other guys would have rather read "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones" to stimulate their minds.
