Fifteen years ago the Rock Bottom Remainders played for the first time at the American Booksellers Association trade show. This year, to coincide with Book Expo America, they will be playing their "Still Younger Than Keith" concert at Webster Hall, New York City, on Friday June 1 at 9pm.
The band consists of Dave Barry, Amy Tan, Ridley Pearson, Scott Turow, Mitch Albom and, after a five-year absence, Stephen King. Frank McCourt and others will be making guest appearances.
The concert will benefit 826NYC, an organization founded by Dave Eggers to get kids writing; the AAP's Get Caught Reading program and the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression. Some of the band members will be appearing on Good Morning America on Thursday May 31. Over the years, the Remainders have raised more than $1.6 million for charities.
