Historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr., author of more than 20 books and winner of the Pulitzer Prize (twice) and the National Book Award, died Feb 28 in New York City. He was 89. His biographies include "A Thousand Days: John F. Kennedy in the White House" and "Robert Kennedy and His Times", and a multi-volume work on the "New Deal". His most recent book, "War and the American Presidency", which was critical of President Bush's foreign policy, was published in 2004.
