What do you think O'Reilly means when she calls Kathryn "a wonder of the consciousness"? Kathryn's body is transformed too, so what sets her apart from the Leon and Christos who she describes as mere "wonders of the body"?

RE: What do you think O'Reilly means when she calls Kathryn "a wonder of the consciousness"?

As the female Wonder and one whose life took a tragic turn - no choosing of the freak part at all- I can only imagine how devastating it must be. Kathryn was the only character who made me stop and think about myself and say, "Oh how horrible that would be." What could one do with one's life except hit the talk show circuit and warn others of what happened. (Hmmm... don't take too lightly all those "side effects may include" disclaimers following all of the drug advertisements on TV.) I think women in general seem to think about life, choices, future things that might happen as well as talk about all of those with other close female friends. Kathryn might actually be struggling the most among the three to remain calm and deal with her furry body, using her consciousness to tell herself, "Well, I AM still alive, and I am still coherent and able to be myself mentally.
To be honest, I am not totally satisfied with what I have written; I feel as if something is still missing. So it will be interesting to see what other readers have to say!

I think you hit the nail on the head, Rebecca. Kathryn is the most introspective and self-aware of the Wonders. Is it coincidence that she's the only woman? I don't think so. I also think it is why she had to die.
