Could you find anyone that actively was trying to do something nice for someone else? I felt bombarded by their "me, me, me" mentality. Their subterfuge with and off-handed treatment of their significant others, their lack of loving concern for their children, their willingness to cheat and lie their way through life. What a lot of unlikeable people!

What an interesting question. I really tried to find a character that had good intentions and the closest I came was the sniper. He was trying to do his job and hoped that by doing os he would save lives.

I had the same question, but I kind of liked reading a book full of essentially "me, me, me" characters. Instead of rooting for anyone in particular, it was a change of pace being able to just follow the story. It was a character list of lesser evils.

I agree with the comment about the sniper. He seemed to be the one person trying to keep things good, with little success. Everyone else was just in it for themselves.
