I would recommend this to friends, with reservations because I didn't think there was much of a historical element to this book. I don't think we learned as much about the Eiffel Tower or its designer as I thought might be included. I did like it, but would not give it high ratings.

I would recommend the book mostly because it is a relatively fast read, and it is evocative of the time and place of 19th Century Paris. I found the social mores stifling, which is, think, the point of the book. We have come a long way, and that’s good and bad. I found myself engrossed in the world of the book even when some of the characters annoyed me.

As a matter of fact I have been recommending this book to others as a great one for book clubs. There are plenty of topics that make for lively discussion and it can appeal to a wide range of readers - from historical fiction to women’s issues even to romance fans.

I? would recommend this book for a book club. There are a lot of topics for discussion and the reading level is right to include many people in a club. The historical aspect is also very interesting without being intimidating. I? highly enjoyed this book.

I would recommend this book to certain readers. I think it was interesting to look at the historical nature of the Eiffel Tower and all that goes with it, but the story and some of the characters were annoying and that could be off putting.
