Why do you think Dot Braden and Ruth "Crow" Weston became such great friends? If they had met in other circumstances or in peacetime, do you think they would have gotten along just as well?

They were both Southern girls with southern accents even though Dot's was less pronounced. Dot also liked the fact that Ruth was willing to go along with just about anything and always seemed good humored. Also you could tell Ruth anything and she kept it to herself which is a great attribute for a friend to have. I do think if they had met in other circumstances that they would have become friends as their two personalities would naturally find each other.

I think if they had met in other circumstances, they would have been friends. I do not believe, however, that they would have had many ways in which to do this. I love to be in situations where I can make friends with people I probably would not have met. I enjoy people with different backgrounds and lives.

I think at root they were opposites (which attract.) My best friend once told me she was overwhelmed by me when we met in third grade and not sure if she liked me. The strong friendship has continued to this day.
