Henderson was very important, though vacillating in his support--he did promote the Powder Puff Derby which probably started them on their way. Granny, Roscoe Turner and Benny Howard were fascinating characters, though only Granny really helped any of the females. Certainly Susan Beech was very important in supporting the women and through her, her husband the founder of Beechcraft supported them

Blanche Noyes because her husband had taught her how to fly. I could relate to that and her thinking of "The Lord is my pilot" verse she wrote to Dewey. So sad her husband got killed, she was devastated. So thankful Earhart and Thaden helped her to recover, go back to work and return to flying.

Like some other readers, I really enjoyed learning about Olive Ann Beech. It is interesting to know about the people behind the well known aircraft names.

Probably Thaden because she had to balance a career in flying with marriage and family, at a time when a career was not really encouraged. Money was tight, she kept at it, and got a job that would enable her to keep flying as well as help support her family.

Besides the pioneers the book is based on, Henderson stood out a great deal. Learning the history of LAX and the tie to the Woman's Air Derby was interesting. Olive Beech stands out to me as well. I was amazed by all the connections to so many interesting people.
