Why do you think Charles Lindbergh, the most famous flier of the era, wouldn't commit to supporting women pilot?

I think that Charles Lindbergh's attitude is a reflection of that era. However, sexist attitudes are still easy to find in business and politics. A man might be a tough negotiator, but a tough woman is a ___ (rhymes with 'witch.'

While I think he was a man of the times, the little lady needs to be at home etc but I also think he was an ambitious man who didn't want any more competition in the field. Thaden certainly could give him a run for his money

I think he was a chauvinist like most men at that time. Plus, he didn’t want the competition and a woman stealing his limelight. I think it would have been devastating for a man in this time period to lose to a woman.

I felt it was because of that time period. Society today has countless more of what is to be excepted. So many folks break their spirit trying to live up to society. Again, with Lindbergh, I felt he was thinking that way because of society. I thought these facts about him were interesting:

I have read a fair amount about Lindbergh, and I don’t think he wanted to give credit to anyone else, least of all women, for succeeding in his field of expertise. From everything that has been published since his death, he doesn’t come off sounding all that noble, even given his success in aviation.

I think that Charles Lindbergh's attitude is a reflection of that era and how many men viewed the role of women in society although his views were far more radical. Born on a farm he expressed views that many would compare to breeding livestock when talking about women and marriage in his autobiography. Lindbergh also shared many of the same views as the Nazi's and modern day white supremacists.

I have not read much about Charles Lindbergh. The article I was referring to was from the History Channel. I should have explained that the reason why I used the word interesting. I choose that world due to the title of the article. The title of the article is ”10 Fascinating Facts About Charles Lindbergh ”. My fault for not reference correctly.
The views of Charles Lindbergh were mostly reflected in society viewpoint of that time era. That is why the famous quote:
”Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.’ George Santayana
is critical.
This is from the University of Houston regarding social issues in that time period:

This is an article from the History Channel regarding that 1920’s:

This is an article from History Channel regarding 1930’s:

I understand is not the proper way to reference. Again,my fault for not reference correctly.

Lack of respect for women in general was normal for the time period. There has been progress in this direction, but women have to work harder, even today, for respect in the workplace.

I believe that Lindbergh was like most men of his times. . . a chauvinist. He was known for not being the best husband and quite into his self so he would not want any competition especially from a female. I do think he would be not be a gentlemen if a woman stole his limelight.

I think Charles Lindbergh was a chauvinist and thought a woman's place was in the home. I also think he might have felt threatened that a woman might match or exceed his accomplishments
