Why do you think Danielle's beliefs and behavior changed? How have societal beliefs and behaviors changed over your lifetime, and how has it impacted you?

In the beginning of the story, Danielle is constrained by societal values, but as the story progresses, she shuns convention. Why do you think her beliefs and behavior changed? How have societal beliefs and behaviors changed over your lifetime, and how has it impacted you?

I think that Danielle's behavior changed out of necessity and WWII changed women's economic status for the same reason. She became economically independent in a time period when she could although every once in a while I am amazed to notice someone who still has the "women are second class citizens" attitude. I think that Danielle had that experience with Cameron.
