Even though her sisters agreed and a great deal of money was at stake, did selling the scroll seem like the proper thing to do? It was an item that was a part of family history and once gone, then gone forever.

It seemed that Mimi was the only one of her siblings to truly treasure the heirloom. Putting aside the notion of right or wrong, Mimi had already lost something perhaps even more precious and selling the family heirloom symbolized man's selling out our forests for his personal sustenance.

She did. She was the only sister to really appreciate the heirloom. It was a valuable cultural artifact that was saved for the world by smuggling. The sale made it far more likely that the priceless heirloom would survive for posterity.
