The novel leaves the younger women's stories unresolved. What do you think the future holds for Margot as she ostensible remains in Remembrance, and the younger Winter as she departs Remembrance with Josiah? What do you think Gaelle's future actions will be when she leaves the care facility with Josiah at the end of the book?

I like to think they would become friends and allies. Margot also has power which could serve Remebrance and aid Winter. Josiah seems to be the bridge that brings the women into their true powers and positions of relevance. The women were guideposts and saviors to many. I think Gaelle will be the same.

Gaelle will continue on as the others.

Although the novel leaves the reader pondering the future, I feel the same as Marcia S.: They might all- somehow- remain in contact. If not, I think they will survive. They have the strength of having decided ( as Louisa says on page 343) "How your life gets run out... whether you gonna die a slave or be free."

I am hoping for a sequel.

I think Gaelle will go on to develop her powers with Josiah by her side. Josiah was the aperture that connected all the power in the women. He is the one that will go on forever.
