The four main protagonists all have mysterious abilities they refer to as "talents." Did you think one of the women had a more useful talent than the others? Do you know someone who has a special gift or talent that can't be explained by mere education? If you could choose a supernatural ability, what would it be, and why?

I think being able to protect a community was an amazing power in this story, It provided a place of safety. My grandmother had some ability to sense when something was about to happen - she woke up and called my mother just as my mother felt her first contraction of labour with me! She would know when someone had died. My mother had this "sense" as well, but I don't think I am as much in tune with the universe - too busy on my laptop, phone, tv etc! I would love to be able to fly!

I think the talents were of equal value, useful in different ways at different times.

The women had talents that complimented one another. They were not more useful than the other.

I agree with Dorothy, the talents complimented each other. While none was, in the end, more useful than another, I was most intrigued by Abigail's "space wrapping."

I think that all their abilities are equally useful and I also agree with others that their talents complement each other. If I had a supernatural ability, I think I'd like it to be the ability to travel through time or stretch time. Time is precious and with the ability to time travel or stretch time, I can do and accomplish more things.

I had an uncle who claimed he could relieve burns. If we accidentally burned ourselves on our coal stove as children, we would only need to think of him to be relieved of the pain. Then, when we saw him, we would tell him and he would say a prayer. It really worked for me, on several occasions. I would like to be a healer, if I could. My only superpower is courage.

I thought it was interesting that each of the women had different talents and that none was better than the others. My great-grandmother, who was part Choctaw Indian, was always aware of happenings in the family before anyone told her. In all our generations of first born daughters we have been able to do the same.

Usually it is women who have super natural talents. However in my family it seemed to be the men. My paternal great grandfather could predict future events. My father could heal minor things - like scratches and rashes and the removal of warts. I have not found that I have any type talent, but if I did I would want to see into the future, similar to my great grandfather.

The ladies in the book very much complimented each other. If anyone stood out to me it would be Mother Abigail and her ability to close the edges of Remembrance.
