During Pavla and Danilo's first meeting, Danilo asks her what she'd like people to say to her. How would you respond to that question? Is there something you'd like people to ask you or say to you that no one does?

I would say ask me if there is anything you can do or help me with while I wait for the doctor and my parents. Then ask any questions you would normally ask when getting to know a person.

I would like people to say they appreciate me, my time, my conversation, my help, etc. I often hear people say "thank you," but I seldom hear people say 'I appreciate you."

"Hello, glad to see you" or some version of that would be just fine -- spoken with sincerity. As Janis Joplin said: all I'm looking for is sincerity and a good time. Sincerity is affirmation that you exist and you matter. We can give it to strangers, and we can find it in strangers. I think that's what Pavla would have wanted to hear too: a friendly acknowledgment of her personhood, a conventional greeting instead of awkward speech and stares or pity, treating her like any other person instead of a "freak."

I think that's a difficult question to answer. I would just want people to say what was most authentic not anything manipulated by my own wants. Obviously, I do wish people would say certain things but then it wouldn't be their own thoughts or feelings. I think Danilo, in particular, fails to be courageous when interacting with others. He doesn't know how to communicate his true feelings, or at times he doesn't have a confident and informed opinion, so he relies on others to do that hard work for him. The tracker figured Danilo out pretty quickly.

I don't particularly have anything that I'd like for people to ask me or say to me but I do like it when people tell me that they learned something new from me. It makes me feel as if the time spent together wasn't a waste or boring because something new was learned.
