The Dry

I liked the book and thought it was skillfully written. Yes it was a page-turner. But I never really felt involved in any of the characters. Did anyone else have this reaction? Does anyone know why the book left me feeling so distant?

RE: The Dry

I genuinely believe that this is a book that everyone should try. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did, and now I’m thinking I’ve just read one of my favorite books of 2018 within the first week of the year. This is more than just a thriller. This is an exploration of a country plagued by extreme weather conditions, written by someone who knows Australia well. This is a look at how the past will always impact your future, in ways you couldn’t even begin to imagine.

RE: The Dry

I loved this book so much! I read it all in one day; couldn't put it down. I found myself engaged with the characters, especially Falk, Raco, the late Karen, the Hadlers..just about everyone really. I disliked the the Duncan men so intensely that I almost felt I knew them in real life. So, I'm with sylviaann that this may be one of my favorite books of 2018, and it's only January.

RE: The Dry?

A surprising, well written, compelling book that kept me guessing all the way to the end.
