What do you think will happen to Penn Cage and his family in the second and third novels in this trilogy, The Bone Tree and Unwritten Laws? What would you like to see happen to these characters and to Natchez?

I've read the second book, so I know what is in store for the family. (Sorry, I won't reveal any spoilers for those of you that haven't read THE BONE TREE.) I can say that I hope to see justice, for past and present crimes, prevail in UNWRITTEN LAWS.

I too have read the second book. I agree that justice - for the family and for the victims already portrayed as well as any who may follow - is something I would like to see. Also, one gets very little sense in this book of how the Natchez community as a whole is reacting to the happenings described. I'd like to see more on a community reaction in future books.

This is the first of his books that I've read, so can only guess that the main characters will achieve justice. Natchez will probably have a big implosion when all of the information about past and current murders get out as the powers-that-be scuttle to hide their complicity in the crimes and the cover-up. Given that there are two more books, I anticipate that things will remain in turmoil through the 2nd book and ...I hope...reach resolution in the 3rd. I hope Tom lives to be reconnected t=with the family and the community.

I had checked the Bone Tree out at the library a day or two before getting this in the mail. When I realized it was after this book I took it back just to avoid affecting my reading. Thus, totally in the dark. I have no clue and am afraid to conjecture. Iles adds so many things to the timeline involving so many characters that this could go on in a lot of different directions but am anxious to find out now. So much happened to so many characters in this book in the time period of a week that it is really scary.

This is the first of the trilogy that I've read. I don't think I will read any others in the trilogy. I hope the families will come together in love.

I'm hoping we find out the truth about Viola's death and her son's father. I want Dr. Cage to survive as well as Walt. I want justice for all the people who have suffered from the corrupt law enforcement and the KKK and the Eagles. I want to see Henry get credit for all his work to bring out the truth. I don't think Caitlin and Penn will get married before the end of Book 3!

I have read Book 2 so it is hard to comment without giving anything away. I do hope those in high places in the Eagles are exposed and I hope Viola's killer is exposed and it is not Dr. Tom Cage. Can't wait for Book 3!!

I haven't read The Bone Tree yet (is it as long as Natchez Burning?!) but I think Dr. Cage will have to save hinself, and I think he will make it home, but won't live long. I don't really think Lincoln is his son, but will we ever find out? Don't think so. I hope I warm up to Caitlin; for some reason, I've never really liked her character.

Penn and his family could go in a million different directions. No doubt their will be revelations revealed, some surprising, some disappointing.

I do hope the family remains close, whatever is revealed forgiveness and closeness is possible. Too late in the game to see this family divided.

I intend to read Bone Tree and really don't want to second guess Greg Iles. I hope we find some answers and see some justice. It will probably all be resolved in Book 3.

I haven't read The Bone Tree yet, and I appreciate that those who have have adhered to the "no spoilers" request. I would like to see justice done. As someone else said, I would like there to be something revealed about Caitlin that would allow me to warm up to her. I'd like Peggy to emerge as a more fully formed, stronger character;she has potential to do so.
