Have you read any of Elizabeth Strout's previous works, and if so, which ones? How do you think this one compares?

Is there another author whose works you feel are similar?

I loved Olive Kitterage and Olive Again, perhaps more than this book. The writing and story telling are in the same vein, which I liked. I"m not sure which other author compares.

I Enjoyed her Olive Kitterage books better but As far as other Authors books that come to mind as a comparison to her Lucy Barton stories I would say Anne Youngson’s book Meet Me At the Museum comes to mind

The only other book I’ve read by Strout is Olive Kitteridge. I enjoyed Oh William much more and look forward to reading My Name is Lucy Barton as well as her other works. Not only the style but her insights into the human emotions are brilliant.

I haven't read any of Strout's previous novels, although I wish that I had read Lucy Barton (and probably will, when I get a chance). I think there are aspects of Oh William I would have appreciated more with that background.

I have read Olive Kitteridge, Olive, Again, My Name is Lucy Barton, and Oh William!. While I enjoyed the Lucy Barton books, I loved the books about Olive. Sometimes, I would chuckle as I read them. Olive’s personality is so unique, and the humor that Strout uses is divine.

I’ve only read Olive Kitteridge and enjoyed it (and Olive!) very much so I have Olive, Again on my “on deck” pile. But I didn’t get the same connection with Oh William so probably won’t try to read the other Lucy Barton ones.

Every book by Elizabeth Stout was enjoyable, that’s how I got to Oh William. Her writing makes me think that I’m in conversation with the characters, like I’m part of each scene. I have reread the books too, just to have that satisfaction of feeling at home.

I have read the Olive Kitteridge books and enjoyed them, Oh William has become a favorite. I really felt that I was part of the ongoing conversation. No other author comes to mind for a comparison.

Elizabeth Strout is a brilliant writer and I have enjoyed all of her books. That said, I have listened to each novel on Audible and the readers do an excellent job. The irony is that the Olive Kitterage books are my favorites, although Olive is a distressingly difficult character to like. Lucy Barton in Oh, William, on the other hand is entirely simpathetic and she epitomizes much of the tenderness and questioning that accompany the examined life.
I would say the Stout is similar to Anne Tyler in her narration of the everyday life.

I have not read any of the other Stout books but reviews tend to favor Olive and Olive Again. I enjoyed this one thoroughly and will read others because of that enjoyment.
