Why do you think Eva allows Liz to get close to her?

Eva needed a sense of belonging to a family because she was denied that growing up. Her connection with Liz is mutually beneficial since Liz’ daughter too busy with her career. I loved the relationship they shared. This author made it feel very real.

With Eva being alone for so long I believe she wanted to try to finally be able to trust someone. Trust was hard for her considering her employment.

Liz was just so accepting, warm, sweet and welcoming, and Eva had been deprived of a mother in her formative years. I think Liz filled a mom-size hole in Eva’s heart.

I think that she saw Eve as someone that she could really trust and talk to. She hasn't had anyone that she could trust in her life in a long time.

Liz demonstrated to Eva that she cared for her. She was persistent and didn't give up on her. She accepted her and didn't push her. All it takes is one person. Eva responded to that person.

Because Eva had a desperate need for acceptance and love and Liz offered this without any conditions attached. How could anyone with Eva 's painful childhood resist this gift. She tried to resist but, thank heavens, she was not able to.

Initially, Eva fought the overtures from Liz. I think, because she didn't want censure from someone who was so loving to her. She didn't know how to trust and really didn't know how to handle someone who wasn't trying to use her for their own gain. Liz's persistence paid off for Eva in the long run. Eva discovered there was so much more when she was not so isolated.

I agree with the general idea that Eva was hungry for a mother figure. Having been deprived of the love of a family throughout her life, she was drawn to the idea of what certainly appeared to be a sincere offering of acceptance and unconditional love.
