Eva faces several huge difficulties in her life. Do you think her drug dealing is justified, given her circumstances?

The whole situation, Eva manipulated by popular campus athlete to make drugs and the fact that she is so much smarter than he. Again she’s looking for validation or relationship, but instead is treated extremely unfairly by University when she is Kicked out of school and boyfriend goes free. She’s never offered by University to have representation during thy e inquiry. Even though she has the intellectual potential, she is not valued by University.

I don't think that dealing drugs is the answer. It particularly bothered me that it didn't effect her when the first college boy was beaten up so badly for not paying. She should have been given a chance by the university (and yet the young gentlemen got away with it), but she should have moved on after that. Why stay around the scene of the crime? Why be forced to deal with the past all the time? Move on! It isn't ike she went back to visit the sisters. She had no real ties to that area to keep her there.

It is hard to put oneself in the "shoes" of another, to judge what might justify any action. Backed into a corner, with an unforgiving background and little guidance from the adults in life, no financial security, who knows what might seem the most expedient way ahead. My life has been easy, but under similar circumstances, who knows what I might justify....

No, I don't think it's ever excusable to assist someone else in ruining their life, even if it is, ultimately, the other person's choice whether or not to take drugs. Eva was a smart person and I can't help but think she could have found a more honorable way to live. Granted, she likely wouldn't have made as much money, but she also wouldn't have been constantly looking over her shoulder, either.

Dealing and making drugs wasn't the plan that Eve had for her life but due to circumstances, it was where she ended up. I thought that she knew it was wrong and was trying to get out of that life but was forced by circumstances and men to keep doing it.

Eva’s choice to make drugs makes for a good story line only. I don’t believe it was a good choice but I think Eva has serious issues resulting from her childhood. Her lack of self esteem is what clouds her judgement and informs her choices.

I agree with Bluebook - Eva had a difficult childhood and some people rise above it and other people flounder. Eva lacked emotional intelligence as a result of not receiving nurturing as a child. She became a survivor who felt she had no way out of her situation. She wasn't treated fairly in the university and her dreams were broken. Instead of trying again, she took the easy way out and that was her undoing. She perceived herself as being a victim instead of taking responsibility for what she had done and starting over.

To be justified an action it must be for an apparent good reason. I think in Eva's mind her reason was "good", but it was inherently bad and dangerous. I think she could have found better choices for herself . Basically she became immune to what was really developing in her life with drugs.
