Do you feel sympathy for the Baileys? If so, how is this achieved?

We learn that Jill and Daniel Bailey are the subjects of an extensive federal police investigation into organized crime. Do you feel sympathy for the Baileys? If so, how is this achieved?

I only felt sympathy for Jill, and it wasn't even that much sympathy. It sort of appeared as if her life had been predetermined for her, and she had to live with a brother that didn't seem to respect her much.

No, I did not feel sympathy for either of the Baileys. They apparently knew, going into the family business, what it was all about from the beginning. They both as children and adults reaped the benefits of the "dark side" of the business and did nothing about it. I would have felt sympathy if one of them had, in fact, been the whistle blower.

At first I felt a little bit sorry for Jill because her dad made her feel like she had to join the family biz but depening on exactly what type of organized crimes her family was involved in...there would most likely be victims of those crimes. It's difficult to feel sorry for someone who is profiting off of crime that is harming others.

No sympathy here - both of these people had the benefit or wealth and an excellent education. They had choices to make and they made them - Jill used - or tried to use - her authority in the field with the women she was with. She could have been as firm with herself when acquiescing to her father as tried to be with those she held position over - but she chose the easier path, position and wealth over principles. I felt her brother did the same - if not more so. No sympathy for either from me.

As Jill's role in the company unraveled, I did feel bad for her situation, but she wasn't a very likable character so I did not feel sympathy for her at the end. On the other hand, Daniel's personal life is falling apart. He will have to deal with two investigations. I think the consequences of his son's actions might be as serious to him personally as the investigations into his business.

I did feel somewhat bad for Jill throughout. I really think she tried to be the voice of reason and to provide leadership in a very challenging situation.

I did not have sympathy for the family. I have no hate for them because they are wealthy. The crimes they committed were wrong. However, there are families that are rich or poor that have committed similar crimes or worst.

At first I felt sorry for Jill as she'd sacrificed her love of teaching to please her father. I later lost that sympathy for her as she was a part of the family's dirty business. Daniel Bailey, his wife, and son had no redeeming qualities as far as I was concerned. They only cared for themselves.

Not a smidgen--I don't get family business since we didn't have one so the obligation to go into the business is beyond my ken. The rejection of this obligation means, many times, giving up money and a cushy life. Neither one of these people were in the least bit concerned about how that was achieved and they weren't willing to give it up. So, nope, not a second of sympathy

I agree as well. Not much sympathy from me.

No,I did not feel sympathy. Not even the part about pressure to join the family business. Even if the family business had been legitimate instead of corrupt, plenty of people decline opportunities to join a family business. If the business is not doing illegal activities, then there should be plenty of talent that would love to be be brought into the fold.

I think we all agree that the Baileys had choices. They did not have to follow into the business. I do feel some for Jill she seemed feel she did not have choices, but as expressed above, she was an adult
