In general, what lessons do you think the book teaches us about love? To whom is it available? What sacrifices does it require? Do you agree with the author's point of view on the subject?

Do you think Elio is in love with Michel? Has Oliver ever loved anyone except Elio? Why do imagine love comes so easily to Samuel and Miranda? In general, what lessons do you think the book teaches us about love? To whom is it available? What sacrifices does it require? Do you agree with the author's point of view on the subject?

It teaches us that love is out there for all of us as long as your mind and body are open to it. The only sacrifice required is total freedom of expression at the individual level. Societal constraints can't restrain true love.

Love is available to all. Often, folks are constrained by society, expectations from others, time, responsibilities, etc. Those meant to be together usually find a way--just not in the dramatic way of this novel. But, it is a novel and must hook the reader to become engage in the plot!

I think the book indicates that love is individual and everything is open. There is no right or wrong - no age requirements or gender bias. Love is a feeling and often times a feeling that one cannot control.
