Is there a passage or quote in the book that especially resonated with you?

The story that Michel told Elio about going to heaven and asking God for "one more hour" with a loved one is something I've thought about ever since. As you may remember, God replied that he'd already given Michel that one more hour, one more day, one more week; Michel just hadn't realized it. It made me even more aware that our time with those we love is limited and it encouraged me to appreciate those around me more.

"So much time had passed, so many years, and who knew how many of them might turn out to have been wasted years, that unbeknownst to us, end up making us better people."

I think this is true - we often think that we have missed something in a gap of years but that gap may have made us a different person and perhaps a better person.

Fate works forward, backward, and crisscrosses sideways and couldn’t care less how we scan it’s purposes with our rickety little befores and afters. This sentence hit me big time!

"By the time we learn to live, it's already too late. And yet there must be some small joy in finding that we are each put in a position to complete the lives of others, to close the ledger they left open and play their last card for them." (pages 210-11)

I may never be who I was in those days, but I do want to see him again.”

Asking God for "one more hour" with a loved one is something that I have done, so that rang true to me.
