Oliver muses that, 'Music ... reminds us of who, despite all our claims or denials, we've always known we were and are destined to remain.' Do you think this statement is true? How has music impacted your life, if at all?

Oliver muses that, 'Music doesn't give answer to questions I don't know how to ask. It doesn't tell me what I want… Music reminds me of what my life should have been. But it doesn't change me… Instead, it reminds us of who, despite all our claims or denials, we've always known we were and are destined to remain.' Do you think this statement is true? How has music impacted your life, if at all?

Indeed, music does wind it's way through our lives. Our likes and dislikes either reflect our personalities or form said personalities. I loved that the author used musical terms as titles to each section of the story.

Music reminds us of special moments in our lives. Music uplifts us in difficult times. Our likes and dislikes of specific types of music reflects our personalities as well as our view of the world around us.

I think music has the power to touch us in ways nothing else does, and when I'm listening to a performance I find something inside me expanding. I'm not sure my thoughts about it are as profound as Oliver's, but it certainly has the power to spur memories.

I am such a music person! This really resonated with me as a theme with Elio and Michel...I am not so much a classical fan, although I do like it, but I just think of life as a song track... so many times a song takes me back to a certain time in my life, or a certain person. Music just evokes so many memories and so much emotion.. I can't imagine my life without it.

While music has definitely made an impact on me, I don’t agree it holds so much sway on my thoughts around who I am. I think this answer is likely to be different for each of us. For a musician this statement probably rings very true.

I think we reminisce through music. We gravitate to music that we like, which may say something about us. You do not get the same reaction or expectations of people who like rap vs someone who likes classical music.
