In your opinion, did Clyde deserve to die?

In your opinion, did Clyde deserve to die? Why or why not?

I'm not sure anyone "deserves" to die violently -- but Clyde was certainly a bad egg, and his death was a reasonable consequence of his actions.

Deserve to die seems a bit strong. However, the character was not to be missed.

The hard part of that question is the consequences of his dying were almost as bad as the reason he deserved to die. He was a very good villain, and I'm sure he was never missed, but taking a life, even in self defense takes a harsh toll on the killer. No one won in this situation!

No, but he wasn't missed by many. Lindie was a child and should not be condemned for her actions.

Well, no one "deserves" to die, but we all will. Our actions sometimes cause that to happen more quickly than God intended. Clyde certainly put himself out there in misdeeds to others and mistreating his body with drink. Not surprising his "time" came a little early ... or maybe with a little help!

Clyde was a sleeze, and you kind of knew he wouldn't make it through the entire book. It was shocking that Lindie, really still a child, was the one who did it. I didn't know anyone like Lindie who would have done that.

He certainly was deserving of punishment and his death moved the plot of the book to take to turn that it did, but I can't say anyone deserves to die.

I think if he had not been murdered, he would have murdered one of the other characters.

Well, it was a way to tie some things up, including a way for Lindie leave town and begin her own life. I wonder how this affected her. How old was she at this time?
