Do you think it'll happen in your time? Your children's' time? Ever?

Personally, I'd like to think that racial prejudice lessens with each passing generation. My grandparents were by our standards extremely racist, and their children, well, less so, but not perfect. I'd like to think that I personally don't have racial prejudices, but I'm sure they're there, just more subtle.

I do feel that in the North America and some parts of Europe racism has lessened, but in many parts of the world it is as prevalent, if not more so, than ever. People seem determined to dwell on differences - colour, religion, sexual preference, etc, rather than shared attributes. I hate to be negative, but events occurring around the world right now do not give me much hope.

At least truly reading the heartfelt words of another's perception (like the words of Eliza Holman in TH concerning the thoughtless, cruel end to her mother's life) opens windows in minds of some to actions they might not have admitted or allowed themselves to see.

I don't think it will ever go completely away. It has gotten much better here in the states but is still here. Racist attitudes are prevalent over the world. Throughout history, people have fought over race, religion and territory. It is doubtful this will change. Also, it seems as though people have a need to feel better than someone else. This need is fulfilled by putting someone of a different race, economic class or religion down.
