What do you think about the mystery of Trula Freed? Was her magic plausible? Have you ever had an experience with a spiritualist or medium?

RE: Do you think Trula Freed's ...

I found Trula Freed to be a very believable character. Since the beginning of written history, there have been stories of people who claim to have special intuitions or spiritual guidance. I have never gone to see a "medium," but I have had some very strong intuitions that were eerily on-target.

To a degree I certainly do. Perhaps Tula's abilities were in large part due to her perceptive nature rather than 'magic'. People who are very aware of what is going on around them and who are good observers of human behavior can sometimes appear to have inexplicable abilities to 'know' things the rest of us simply choose to not see.

I keep my mind open on these possibilities - I figure, who really knows. I liked the role Trula played in the story - she held some mystery for me.

I found Trula's magic plausible and enjoyed the novel when Trula' character was involved. I've never been to a medium but know plenty of people who have, many of them are true believers. I never want to discount any person's special insights or powers. Even if not true, if believing gives people hope and motivation what's the harm?

I do believe that Trula had good knowledge of many botanicals that aided in the healing of many ailments during the time period of this novel. Many of our present day medicines come from plants. The Native Americans shared their knowledge to early Americans of healing plants and gifts from nature so that is very believable. Although I don't believe in witch craft, there are unexplainable stories of people who have a sense to predict events that will happen and intuition and perception that can predict events or happenings without prior knowledge.

To me “magic” implies having the means or using powers to influence others or an outcome whereas what Trula Freed had was a “gift” to “see” or experience her world and realms beyond differently than others as well as to heal using non-conventional means. I found Trula Freed’s character quite believable. Healers, mystics, shaman, medicine men, spiritualists, etc. have been and exist as a part of all cultures.

I found Trula a believable character. She knew the community well. She was a listener and an observer as well as appearing to be very intuitive. She also had knowledge of the use of plants to heal and liked nature, giving her more credibility as someone with special insights.

I believed in her character, I understand that she was a talented healer, but some of her actions were a little much for me.

Yes, I do find Trula’s magic plausible and I enjoyed her character. I feel there are those who are more sensitive and can intuit and experience things others cannot. It used to be written off as “ mother’s intuition”, and women, who tend to be more gifted in these areas than men, were demonized, ridiculed and even executed for their abilities. Someone famous once said it well, “there are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”

RE: Do you think Trula Freed's ...

I found Trula's magic believable and I was drawn to her. As a small only child on a remote farm I experienced telepathic communication with my mother frequently. She would be about to call me in from whatever (sometimes remote) field I was playing in and I would have clearly heard her call, I would come in the house in answer, and she would be somewhat surprised since she had not actually called for me yet. It happened so frequently that we both considered it "normal".

Trula's knowledge of native plants and herbs and their uses is a wonderful gift the likes of which is well documented in our evolution.

Trula was a good addition to the mix of characters in the book. I am not into mediums or magic but her use of herbs was plausible and she added to the story.
