How can a playlist associated with a novel impact one's experience of the book? Have you listened to Mark Siegel's list?

Mark Siegel has posted a playlist (http://sailortwain.com/extras) with music that relates in some way to Sailor Twain. Do you ever listen to music when you read? How can a playlist associated with a novel impact one's experience of the book?

I can't listen to music at all when I read. As a former music major, I find that I simply can't tune it out. But I can see how it could add to some peoples' experience of a book. My husband, in particular, likes listening to music when he reads and I imagine it can really enhance the atmosphere invoked by the novel while one is reading it.

I can't listen to music while I read, I tend to do one or the other. I love music and it seems to distract me when I try to do both. I will check out the playlist and let you know.

That's very cool, I love it when authors provide playlists for their work. I don't tend to listen to it while reading the book but it's fun to see what songs may have inspired the work or contributed to the mood for the author. It's funny to see Amy Winehouse on the list since I actually thought of her when Ella Wylie was first described in Sailor Twain.
