Do you think Hazel really could have forgiven Buck if he had let her? Do you think her actions toward him at the end of the book were justified?

Do you think Hazel really could have forgiven Buck if he had let her? Would you have been able to forgive him after everything he did? Do you think her actions toward him at the end of the book were justified?

I do not believe Hazel could have truly forgiven Buck - he killed Evangeline - a figure that was more like a mother/sister to Hazel. He also was the person who took Ruby away from Hazel. She would never forgive that even though it worked out in the end, that episode was damaging to Hazel and to Ruby

Yes, she was completely justified in her actions toward Buck - a Mother must protect her young.

I don't think Hazel could have forgiven Buck. He caused too much pain in her life and the lives of those she cared about. I felt she was completely justified in her actions...I was hoping that would happen.

I do not think Hazel would have ever forgotten Buck for the pain and anguish he caused her, her closest friend Evangeline, and of course now Ruby. I absolutely think she did the right thing because I am sure he would have killed Hazel and Ruby if given the opportunity .

Buck was such a toxic mean individual. I doubt that Hazel could truly forgive him her bond with Evangeline was so deep and I was glad when Buck could no longer inflict pain.

People of faith seem to be able to offer forgiveness for the most heinous of crimes. There are limits to forgiveness, especially for women. Nothing can come between a child and the mother.

Never! He was a hideous person who had no redeeming grace. I don't know that I would have been able to do what she did to him toward the end of the book, but I applaud her for doing it.

I don't think Buck was remorseful at all and he wasn't going to change. He was obsessed with punishing others for his transgressions. I applauded Hazel's actions and they were totally justified. He was threatening a child this time!

No, I don't think she could forgive him for murdering Evangeline. I'm glad she could get revenge for her friend's death. Buck came looking for her, and if he had stayed away he would not have died in this manner. All of this was his fault. Although it is usually good to forgive, I think there are other times when forgiveness is not possible.

I don't think she could have truly forgiven Buck, but I do think she wanted to make peace and give him a chance to move past his hatred and desire for retribution. I think she knew if he wouldn't accept her peace offering, she was going to have to kill him. I think she did the right thing because if he would have lived, it was obvious he would go after her and Ruby.

He got exactly what he deserved. He definitely did not deserve Hazel's forgiveness.

No, I don't think Hazel could have forgiven Buck. Buck would never seek forgiveness; his reason for being was wickedness and revenge. He earned his fate though it was a long time coming.

This is a moot question. I don't think he would have asked for forgiveness. He was a total psychopath bent on revenge.

I don't think she could have forgiven him and yes I think they were justified. He was a monster and should have been dealt with by the authorities.

I do think that Hazel could have forgiven him had Buck really changed. But that didn't happen and I think Hazel's actions were appropriate and understandable.

Fortunately Hazel knew about the poisonous plants and was able to save Ruby. Even if, and that is a big if, he deserved some kind of forgiveness for his earlier evil behavior, the threat to Ruby was beyond foregiveness.

Buck was the true person who should have been punished to the highest degree. I was very happy he was killed.

He was threatening Ruby and Hazel. Her actions were justified. He was going to be changing, he was a cruel man.

No, I think she would have lived in constant fear. Her actions were definitely justified.

Why forgive him? Just let him move out of her life. Forgiveness is not always warranted.

I don't think Hazel could have forgiven Buck. He was an evil man with no redeeming qualities. He wanted retribution for her testimony and he would never give up trying to hurt her and Ruby. I agreed with her decision - he left her no other choice. I think he would have killed her and Ruby. Their lives were in danger and she did what she had to do to save them both.

I personally never would have accepted Hazel forgiving Buck. It was just not in her character.

I don't really even want to think about her forgiving him...Her actions were justified.
