What kind of future do you imagine for Lee?

What kind of future do you imagine for Lee? Does she continue taking serious, high-profile cases? Does she continue winning them? What about her date with Detective Roberts? Do you think it will lead to a relationship, or was Paul the only one for her?

I'm guessing her success with Jeremy's case will keep her going (as an attorney, anyway,) for a few more years. She'll realize 60 isn't so old after all.

It's interesting because Lee seems on the precipice of making a major life change, especially in the area of her career. But lawyering seems intrinsic to her and I would guess she will continue but maybe in a different way. Her father also represents a potential for change as it seems he might be in tenuous physical shape.

Lee seems to have a lot of intelligence, discipline, and talent, and I doubt she will retire any time soon. To Lee, retirement would mean she had given up, and I don't see Lee doing that! Even though she has aches and pains, gray hair, and lost a recent case that really stung, she also is in excellent physical condition, is highly competitive, and has a wonderful role model in her father, a duplicate bridge player (who obviously has not slowed down mentally, despite his years). I'm 72 and like to think I have a lot more good years left; I'm betting Lee does too!

Lee will continue on. She is not a quitter. I do think she will maybe take less cases and spend more leisure time - visit her father more. She will begin to ease off. Her job has been her life since she lost Paul and it will take some time to replace that with something else substantial. But at 60 years old she is not quite ready for retirement.

Once she gets past the big 60 birthday and realizes she's still the same person and life continues on, she will continue on doing what she is doing. She will continue representing clients for a few more years, then she will take up new hobbies. I don't think she will get married again or even be interested in marriage. She's met too many creeps along the way.

I think she will continue being an attorney and I do think she'll open her heart to love again.

RE: What kind of future do you imagine for Lee?

I think we got several good hints at the end of the book tipping us off to what Lee may do. Over the course of the story, she accepted that her birthday was going to happen and that it didn't mean she had to stop doing the things she loved. She ordered a chest protector, accepted a date, allowed Phil join her legal team (maybe this will be permanent ????), opened herself up to a friendship with Carla, and made plans to visit with her dad. By winning Jeremy's case, Lee proved to herself that she is still sharp and capable. But it also gave her the opportunity/permission to do things a bit differently than she had done in the past. She was definitely hugging more by the end! :)

She'll continue working as a defense attorney. I think turning 6o, coming after what she thought was a colossal failure, shook her confidence. But she loves being a lawyer, and winning this almost impossibly case has given her her confidence back. She's also realizing that 60 isn't that old after all!

Lee is a vital and vibrant woman who will not hide her light under any bushel. I imagine she will take her hurdles with a high stride and possibly find new avenues of adventure and romance in ways that she can't anticipate yet. I hope to read a lot more about Lee Isaacs in future books.

I really agree with acstrine's answer. Lee is looking forward to continuing to have a life. She is planning on doing things.

Based on a few thing alluded to towards the end of this story, I think Lee may have a new outlook and renewed confidence in herself so that she will continue moving forward, and realize she is not ready to be "put on the shelf" any time soon.

I feel that Lee’s success in the trial and the hopefulness she may feel about Jeremy’s future will encourage her to pursue a career in more cases like this. I also would hope that she would give up boxing!
